Mother’s Day Buffet…

          Sunday, May 11th, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Celebrate Mother’s Day at the Club when we will be presenting our annual Mother’s Day Buffet Brunch. You and your guests will enjoy a sensational buffet featuring an array of tantalizing fare masterfully prepared by our culinary team. $ 27.95 per person, $ 13.95 for children age 6 to 12, plus tax & service charge. Children age 5 and under are free. Reservations are now being accepted by calling (732) 367-4500.

Friday Night Dinner in the Tartan Grille….

          The Tartan Grille will be open for dinner every Friday evening with a variety of scrumptious dinner specials throughout May. Dinner is served starting at 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. every Friday evening. Reservations are requested by calling the Club at (732) 367-4500.

          The Tartan Grille will be serving lunch seven days a week with our popular all-day menu along with Chef’s Daily specials. Stop in for a bite to eat before or after your round of golf.

          Remember to join us every Wednesday afternoon from 4:00p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for our weekly Happy Hour in the Tartan Grille!

May Golf News…

          ~ Woodlake Spring Open…

          Saturday & Sunday, May 24th & 25th.  Tee it up for a fun filled two days. All full level members of the club and their associates are welcome to play in this event by signing up in the Golf Shop or by calling (732) 370-1002.

Tartan Grille Drink of the Month…

The club’s Tartan Grille offers an array of popular beverages for members and guests to enjoy. Our head bartender, Anthony Haines, has concocted a drink for May that you’ll truly enjoy with your friends at the club, called Washington Apple Martini.

 Here’s the recipe for you to try out and stop by the club as Anthony will personally make one up for you!

Washington Apple Martini

1 ½ oz Crown Royal

1 oz Puckers Sour Apple

½ oz Cranberry Juice

Pour into a shaker with ice, stir and pour into a martini glass. 

Garnish with a cherry!

Twilite Couples Golf…

          Our popular Twilite Couples Golf returns this month on Friday evening, May 30th. The fun begins at 5:30 p.m. with a nine-hole shotgun and the night includes contests, prizes and tons of fun!

Senior Sweeps & Ladies Play Day…

Memorial Day Tournament…

          Monday, May26th. This shotgun tournament starts off with a sensational all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. All members of the club are welcome to play in this holiday event. Register in the Golf Shop or call (732) 370-1002.

Pool Opens in May…

          The Club’s pool will be reopening on Saturday, May 24th. Come on over to enjoy a relaxing swim at the pool. The pool will be open every weekend through Labor Day, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. For additional information, please call the club’s office at (732) 367-4500.

Halfway House…

          A quick snack or refreshing beverage from the Halfway House will keep you energized for a great round of golf. The Halfway House is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., weather permitting.

Golf Tip for May….

          Tim Geary, the club’s Assistant Golf Professional, offers you this golf tip to tryout this month:

          The beach can be a fun place to be unless you’re a golfer.  Getting up and down from those pesky greenside bunkers can do damage to a score if not properly prepared.  The most important part of a good bunker shot is the set-up. 

1.  Stance. Your stance should be open to your target with your   feet dug into the sand giving you a firm base.

2.  Open Clubface. The club should be opened up allowing the bounce of the club to be exposed to the sand.

Once you have the set-up down, its time for the swing to take over.  Start back steep taking the club back no higher then your shoulders.  Picture the golf ball as the face of a dollar bill. If the sand is light and fluffy take the entire dollar bill, using the bounce of the club.  If the sand is firm you want to hit closer to the ball.  Remember to follow through to a nice full finish, and you have the makings of a perfect bunker shot.
