Rory McIlroy to skip Frys.com Open

Written by Woodlake Country Club.

As it comes to a shock to most of us, Rory McIlroy will skip the season-opening Frys.com Open. It has been a busy golf season for McIlroy and we congratulate him on winning three straight events. Fry's as well as all of us at Woodlake Country Club in Lakewood NJ are excited to see him play in the Open next year.

The first event of the 2014-15 PGA Tour season will be minus the No. 1 player in the world.

Rory McIlroy has notified Frys.com officials that he won't compete in this year's event but plans on being part of the field next year, tournament officials said Tuesday.

The Northern Irishman has had a busy summer, winning three straight events (the Open Championship, the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and the PGA Championship) and rising back up to No. 1 in the world. McIlroy also will compete as part of Team Europe in the Ryder Cup next month in Scotland.

"Fry's congratulates Rory on his victories and looks forward to him playing next year," tournament president Duke Butler said in a statement. "We are going to have an outstanding tournament this year with many well-known professionals competing at Silverado."

Wedding Guests: Reception Seating How-Tos

Written by Woodlake Country Club.

When planning a wedding, the seating chart is usually the last thing on your list and usually a difficult task. We want to help make this experience easy and enjoyable for you, your fiance and family! Speak with our catering staff to help you plan your New Jersey wedding.

If you're having 50 guests to a buffet, you may or may not want to give people specific seating assignments. But if you're having 100 guests or more and serving a seated meal, you'll want to make sure everyone's got a specific place to sit. Why? For one, people like to know where they're sitting -- and that you took the time to choose where and who they should sit with. It's also helpful if you're serving several different entree choices, because the caterer and wait staff can figure out beforehand how many chickens, filets, or veggie dishes a given table gets because they (you) know who's sitting there. Read on for tips on how to seat neatly.

Start Early
We've been at kitchen tables the night before the wedding (or even wedding morning) with a bride and groom just starting their seating chart. Don't let this be you -- you've got more important things to think about at that point! Sure, it's fine to make last-minute changes, but try to get the chart mostly done at least a week before the big day.

Hit the Keys
Create a new spreadsheet. If you haven't already, insert a column into your guest list document categorizing all the invitees by relationship: bride's friend; bride's family; groom's friend; groom's family; bride's family friend; groom's family friend. This way, you'll be able to easily sort the list and break it down into more logical table assortments. Now you'll need to separate these lists into distinct tables.

Create a Paper Trail
If you're feeling more low-tech, draw circles (for tables) on a big sheet of paper and write names inside them (make sure you know how many people can comfortably be seated at each). Or you could write every guest's name on a post-it to place accordingly.

LAKEWOOD, NJ - The annual BlueClaws Charities Nine & Dine Golf Outing returns to Woodlake Country Club in Lakewood on Wednesday, August 6th.

The event, which features a meet-and-greet with BlueClaws players, raises money for BlueClaws Charities, the BlueClaws official non-profit foundation, and their Community Partner organizations.

The Nine & Dine Golf Outing includes nine holes of golf (scramble format), range balls, locker room usage, a post-round reception, a player meet and greet on the course, and a raffle ticket for the post-round silent auction.

"This has been a great event for BlueClaws Charities over the last several years and we are looking forward to another strong event," said BlueClaws Charities Executive Director Jim DeAngelis. "Take a half day from work, come on over, and play some golf while we raise money for BlueClaws Charities."

The range opens at 2 pm, when registration begins. Golf will begin, via a shotgun start, at 3 pm and the post-golf reception, which includes a silent auction, will begin at 6 pm.

Registration is $125 for an individual golfer or $500 for a foursome. Access only to the post-golf reception is $50. There are also sponsorship opportunities available.

Click here for a registration form which can be returned to the BlueClaws. Registration is also available by calling JoAnne Bell at 732-901-7000 ext 100.

BlueClaws Charities is the official non-profit foundation of the Lakewood BlueClaws. BlueClaws Charities donated over $150,000 to area non-profit organizations and fundraising events in 2013.
